The Karenni Human Rights Group (KnHRG) is a grassroots independent Karenni-led human rights organisation, established on 18 May 2016. We operate across all seven townships in Karenni (Kayah) State and partly in Kayan region (southern Shan State), Burma. KnHRG was formed by local young and experienced human rights activists; land issue activists, women’s rights activists and community development workers. All the founders are members of Human Rights Educator Network (HREN).
Mission Statement
KnHRG is an independent local organization committed to improving the human rights situation in Karenni (Kayah) State through human rights education and supporting community strategies to claim human rights to engage in social justice and promote a culture of human rights.
Goal
Promote human rights in society and a human rights culture in Karenni (Kayah) State.

- To strengthen local networks and advocacy initiatives of human rights activities.
- To raise awareness of human rights violations through information collection and reporting.
- To strengthen and mainstream human rights in all kinds of community development.
